Liberal Arts Students Invited to Attend McCombs Career Epo Read Tips for Attendance

Liberal Arts students are invited to attend the McCombs Undergraduate Career Expo on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. If you plan to attend, are you ready?

TOP TIPS – Ignore these tips at your own risk!
What’s the fastest way to get kicked out of the Expo? Don’t wear a suit, or don’t wear the right color suit. Please pay special attention to the dress code. McCombs will deny entry to any student who does not meet their dress requirements .
If you need to ask an employer what they do – you haven’t prepared properly. Do not attend the expo until you have thoroughly researched the companies attending the expo. And you must be able to answer these questions: why do you want to work for the company and what makes you a good candidate? Explore the list of attending employers here.  Keep in mind that in two hours you may realistically only be able to visit with a very limited number of recruiters – so arrive at the expo with a strategic plan of who you want to meet and the order in which you plan to meet with them.
Don’t apologize for your major. Sell it. Help Recruiters understand the value of a liberal arts degree and be prepared to speak about your internship, leadership and other experiences.
Don’t forget your UT ID. You will be required to show your ID to gain entry.
Arrive by 2:45pm. The fair is open to all UT majors from 3-5pm, so there could be a long line right before 3pm. You don’t want to be at the back of that line.

Explore ourMaking the Most of the McCombs Undergraduate Career Expo page to learn how best to prepare, to strategize your approach to the fair and to follow up with recruiters.
