Paid LAH Undergraduate Assistant Position

The Liberal Arts Honors Program Associate Director, Dr. Monique Pikus, is seeking an undergraduate assistant for Spring 2019. The student will work with Dr. Pikus and her graduate assistant on LAH event programming, diversity and inclusion efforts, and/or researching departmental honors and college honors best practices at peer institutions. Specific tasks will be determined by program priorities. The assistant will work a maximum of 10 hours per week and the pay is $10/hour. Please note that undergraduates currently working for LAH are not eligible for this position. In addition, priority will be given to students with work study and students with the ability to multi-task and work independently. Interested students should submit their resume, a short letter of interest (maximum of 500 words), and a list of two references to Dr. Pikus at mpikus@austin.utexas.edu by Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

BuzzFeed Austin Hiring Freelancers

BuzzFeed is opening an Austin office this Summer. This is not fake news!

They are currently looking for freelancers to both write and produce content, and illustrators/animators.

The Daily Texan is currently recruiting staff for this summer, and we’re seeking staffers to work in all departments (Opinion, News, Science&Tech, Life&Arts, Sports, Social Media, Podcast, Copy, Design, Photo and Tech).  We are currently reaching out to students as we try to build a staff representative of the university, and will send more information to those indicating interest on this form

The summer newspaper is a great, relaxed way to get introduced to the Texan, and we are very flexible in accommodating students’ summer plans. Those who indicate interest will receive tryout information at the end of the month.

Hiring: Summer Student Workers

The Jackson School is looking to hire 2-3 student workers (undergrad or graduate student) this summer to help with various facilities-related projects such as:

·         Clearing out lab and storage space;

·         Assisting with minor building maintenance and repairs;

·         Moving rock collections, office furniture, and lab equipment;

·         Helping full-time facilities staff with facilities-related projects.

 

Qualifications:

Attendance and punctuality are top priority so applicants must demonstrate reliability in these areas. 

A very close second is the ability to follow instructions and remain attentive to safety at all times.

At least some experience with hand tools, power tools, and performing manual labor over an extended period of time are preferred.

 

Pay:      

~$9-11/hr  relative to classification (Freshmen, Sophomore…Grad Student)

Positions may be 20-40 hours/week depending on applicant schedule and availability

Work hours are between 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday

 

Start / End date:             

June 1 – August 31st (negotiable depending on availability and schedule)

Student Worker Opening

CoLA Student Division is looking for one more peer advisor! This non-work study position involves filling out paperwork (Q-drops/withdrawals) for student, making appointments for them to meet with Student Division advisors, and answering policy/procedure questions about COLA and UT. We are looking for someone who is graduating later than May 2019 and is available during the summer.
