McNair Scholars Application Still Open

The application for the McNair Scholars program is still open! McNair, as part of the U.S. Department of Education funded TRIO Programs, guides first-generation and low-income and/or underrepresented students into Ph.D. programs, and provides funding to help with that process.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis this spring, with priority given to earlier applications. Attend an info session to find out more about how to apply!

Call for Applications: Clements Center Undergraduate Fellows Program

The solutions to tomorrow’s top international security challenges reside in the minds of today’s students. The Clements Center’s Undergraduate Fellows Program provides UT’s aspiring policymakers and scholars with opportunities for learning, professional development, and research in the fields of defense and foreign policy. Fellows will receive mentorship from the Center’s affiliated scholars and experts, meet with distinguished guests and visiting practitioners, convene in monthly discussion groups on relevant topics and current events, visit historic sites related to diplomatic and military history, and exchange ideas on their course projects. Applications are due April 14th by 11pm Central Time: to apply submit a one-page resume, cover letter, and contact details for two UT references. Interested applicants are encouraged to attend our Info Session on March 5th at 5pm in FAC 328. Email Program Manager Alex Foggett (alex.foggett@austin.utexas.edu) with any questions.

Upcoming Texas Exes Scholarship Application Deadline

The Texas Exes scholarship application deadline for currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students is March 1 at 11:59 p.m. CST. In order to be considered, students must complete the online Texas Exes scholarship application. The online application is separate from the main Texas Exes website and can be accessed at https://texasexes.academicworks.com/. By completing the application, students will automatically apply for most scholarships for which they qualify—no further action is needed. There are also some additional scholarship opportunities in which students might be qualified to apply, and they should read the descriptions to see if they are eligible and complete any required supplemental questions.

Call for Scholarship Applicants for the ACA Student Award

Well, well, well, then WE have the opportunity for YOU!

The Academic Counselors Association (ACA) is proud to offer $300 scholarships to The University of Texas at Austin students who support the vision and values of the academic advising community. It is the hope of ACA that these scholarships will assist students in their academic pursuits and endeavors.

To qualify you must:

  • Be a currently Enrolled UT Austin Students
  • Assist in advising or other academic/student support services
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 (to be verified by the ACA Awards & Recognition Committee)
  • Submit a 500 word advising statement & resume (more information on the application link)
  • Submit a recommendation letter from a staff or faculty mentor who is familiar with your work in advising or other student support services.

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is Tuesday, March 31 at 11:59pm.

Apply Now for ’20-’21 Journalism Scholarships

The deadline is March 27 to apply for more than $70,000 in journalism scholarships for Texas college students

Main criteria:

  • Applicants mus be undergraduate students with a solid academic record
  • Published or broadcast work for student media or as interns for professional media – print, broadcast or digital – that demonstrates a commitment to and talent for reporting and storytelling
  • Some scholarships are based on merit, others on financial need

We offer individual scholarships of up to $6,000 for the academic year – it’s easy to apply online!

Apply for the Gilman Scholarship!

The Gilman Scholarship is a generous federal scholarship for study abroad and a great opportunity for U.S. citizens receiving a Federal Pell Grant to fund their international experience. UT Austin is consistently a top producer of Gilman Scholars.

Education Abroad is hosting two information sessions in February to help students prepare a competitive application. The first hour will cover scholarship details, selection criteria and tips for submitting a competitive application. During the last 30 minutes, advisors will guide students through brainstorming activities for their essays. We will also host a two-hour drop-in session for essay review.

The online application is now open for applicants whose study abroad programs start between May 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021. The deadline to apply is March 3.

 

 

 

Teresa Lozano Long Institute Call for Applications!

The Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies is now offering a number of travel scholarships to Liberal Arts majors for study abroad in Latin America, both for summer 2020 and for academic year 2020-2021.  For summer 2020, we are offering ten $2,500 travel scholarships.  Students must attend degree-granting institutions in Latin America this coming summer for a summer session and return with at least six hours of college credit.  For academic year 2020-2021, we will award six $5,000 travel scholarships for semester-long study abroad in Latin America.  Awardees must attend degree-granting institutions in Latin America and return with at least 12 hours of college credit.  These awards are merit-based.

Latin American Scholarship Opportunity

The Pan American Round Table of Austin offers one $2,000 scholarship to a currently enrolled (AY 2019-20) junior or senior UT Austin undergraduate from Latin America. It is called the Jeannie Hunter Hackett Memorial Scholarship. The deadline to apply is in March 9, 2020.
