If you pre-ordered a shirt over the summer, you can now come to the LAH office and pick yours up ($12). After September 10th, you will no longer be guaranteed a shirt, so don’t wait until it’s too late! If you like the LAH t-shirts but didn’t pre-order one, you can still get one from the limited supply of extras.
LAH Volunteer Day + Spicy Pickle Lunch Saturday, September 11 (before the game)
The LAH community will be volunteering this weekend at the Micah 6 food pantry in West Campus! Take advantage of this great opportunity to meet new LAHers while serving the local neighborhood. Afterwards, we will head over to the Spicy Pickle sandwich shop for a well-deserved lunch!
The event starts at 9:15am on Saturday, September 11 and will end by noon. (way before the game!)

Texas Blazers Accepting Applications
Texas Blazers, an on-campus men’s service organization, is currently taking applicants for their Fall 2010 class. Since 1994, Blazers have worked to provide outstanding service to our campus and community, a strong sense of spirit for our school, and a bond of brotherhood among our members. Through the years, Blazers have maintained these ideals through many avenues. We tutor and mentor high school students at a local area school; host official campus events and hold mixers and formals with various female spirit groups.
Next week we will host an information session to give prospective members an opportunity to learn more about our organization. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 9th at 4 pm in the Texas Governor’s Room in the Texas Union. We will be hosting another info session on Thursday, September 16th at 5 p.m. in UNB 4.224 (also in the Union). We recommend that you attend one of these info sessions if you are considering joining.
We’ll also be holding a service project Sunday, September 12th and a mixer Friday, September 17th. If you’d like more specific information on these events, please email me at dan.leyendecker@gmail.com.
In order to be considered for membership, you must have an overall GPA above 3.0, have completed at least two semesters at UT, and have at least two semesters remaining here. We look for students who have demonstrated an aptitude for service, strong leadership, and a love of our university. Applications are due Tuesday, September 21st by 5:00 P.M. They can be turned in either in person on the 4th floor of the SSB (SOC Box #78) or to dan.leyendecker@gmail.com.

Try Out for The Daily Texan Staff
Tryouts at The Daily Texan are going on now and run through Sep. 15. We don’t require any journalism experience. Many of our best reporters have walked in to our offices with no newspaper experience. I’m just looking for people who can write clearly and are interested in learning what reporting is all about.
Recent staffers have worked or interned at places like the Texas Tribune, KUT, NPR, the Statesman, the Dallas Morning News, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the Texas Observer, the San Antonio Express-News, and Vanity Fair.
The application process requires three separate tryout days when the applicant will receive an assignment that will be published in the next day’s paper. Applications are available in our office in the basement of the Hearst Student Media building.
Foot in the Door Auditions Sept. 7th and 8th 7:00-9:00 pm
The Liberal Arts Honors Theatre Troupe, Foot in the Door announces auditions for Noises Off by Michael Frayn and The Changeling by Thomas Middleton and William Rowley. Auditions will be held Tuesday, September 7 from 7:00-9:00 pm in BUR 112 and Wednesday, September 8 from 7:00-9:00 pm in UTC 3.110. Actors will read select scenes from the plays, and are encouraged to attend both auditions days.
Analecta Literary Journal Positions Available- Apply by Sept. 24
Analecta Literary Journal, UT’s official literary and arts journal, is now accepting staff applications for the 2010-2011 academic year. Analecta seeks highly-motivated, literary-minded undergraduates to serve as readers and editors for its 37th edition. Open positions — including Managing Editor, Section Editors, Design Team,and Readers — offer varying levels of time-commitment and responsibility. First, second, and third year students are particularly encouraged to apply. Participate in LAUNCH executive team
LAUNCH, the liberal arts chapter of undergraduate research, promotes undergraduate liberal arts research by hosting bi-monthly general assemblies led by professors or graduate students conducting research in various departments. For the 2010-2011 school year, we are looking for chair people to help our executive team. If you are interested in participating, submit the LAUNCH application for a chair position by Friday, September 10.
Normandy Scholars Program at Study Abroad Fair, September 8
Normandy Scholar Program on World War Two (NSP) as a part of your educational experience at The University of Texas at Austin. The Normandy Program, which is open to all majors on campus, offers one-semester (Spring 2011) of intensive study of World War Two combined with a three week-long faculty-led study visit to the most important European sites of World War Two in London, Paris, Normandy, and Berlin. Students who meet the program requirements and are looking for an extraordinary educational opportunity are invited to inquire and apply.
Stop by the NSP info table at the Study Abroad Fair to talk to former Normandy Scholars about their experiences in the program. There will also be NSP Faculty available to answer questions.
