Student Life Mission:
Student Life at the LBJ School of Public Affairs will honor our namesake’s legacy in civil rights and leaders like Barbara Jordan, who changed history in the Texas Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, and this school. She once asked:
“How do we create a harmonious society out of so many kinds of people? The key is tolerance – the one value that is indispensable in creating community.”
To help reach equity in our country and world, we pledge to create anti-racist, inclusive, and diverse programming to socialize, learn, and promote wellness. This must be done without discrimination in race, color, religion, national origin or citizenship status, sex, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, sexual orientation, age, disability, or military status.
As head of the Student Life Committee, the Student Life Officer shall also serve as the main point-of-contact for student sponsored event planning at LBJ and be responsible for ensuring LBJ’s events are diverse and inclusive.
