As someone who was born in the U.S. and has lived here all their life, I have often wondered what it would be like coming here from another country. Luckily, I came across an article from International Austin that answered many of my questions.
The article is an interview with UT alum and President of GlobalAustin, Steve Niemeyer. Niemeyer is also the Policy Manager for Border Affairs and Colonias Coordinator. With such an impressive resume, it is no surprise Niemeyer is incredibly well traveled and has visited a vast array of countries throughout his childhood and adult life.
In his interview, Niemeyer talks about what it is like being international in Austin. He also delves into topics such as whether Austinites are hospitable, what he hopes to accomplish, and which events he participates in. This interview is important because it gives locals an idea of what they can improve on when interacting with people that come here internationally. It also helps people that come here learn about events in Austin. You can read the full interview here (or click on the image below). We are extremely proud to call Niemeyer a forever Longhorn!
