Dr. Magruder joined the department as an Associate Professor in Fall 2020 and holds a courtesy faculty appointment at the UT Jackson School of Geosciences Earth and Planetary Sciences department. She has served as the Director of the Center for Space Research since 2024 (www.csr.utexas.edu).
Dr. Magruder holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree from Princeton University. Her Ph.D. is from UT Austin Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics department. Her graduate work focused on validation strategies for a NASA Earth observing, laser altimetry satellite. Her current research focuses on advancing remote sensing and sensemaking technologies for geospatial applications. She has held previous positions at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and UT Applied Research Laboratories.
