Phiwat (Pee-Wat) “P” Klomkaew was born in Thailand and moved to the United States in 2009 with his family. In May 2018, he received his B.S. in chemical engineering at the University of South Alabama, where he did his honors thesis with Dr. Sean Walker in power-to-gas hydrogen storage system. In the summer of 2018, Phiwat moved to Texas to work towards his Ph. D. degree in chemical engineering at The University of Texas in Austin. While tolerating the Texas heat, he has been making friends with his cohort. Things he likes to do include playing board games, drinking craft beer, cycling, volunteering, and traveling. Phiwat is now working with Dr. Benny Freeman and Dr. Joan Brennecke to tackle monovalent ion separation through novel polymer membrane and ionic liquid to treat hydraulic fracturing wastewater.
