The Communications Specialist – Content Writer will have a pivotal role in developing comprehensive communication strategies that encompass various projects, channels, and platforms. The primary purpose will be to effectively reach our target audiences and stakeholders through both traditional and digital media.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with managing the website including posting, updating content, updating maps, managing event calendars, and communicating with stakeholders who engage with the website.
- Create engaging and compelling copy for website users and stakeholders including newsletters, blog posts, info-graphics, social media posts, and summaries of reports, events, and current research.
- Support communication plans and implement strategies to reach target audience in collaboration with project team and funders.
- Use of analytics to report on website outcomes and provide direction on improving visibility and reach.
- Participate in regular meetings with team, funders, and stakeholders to provide updates and present on communication products and results.
- Collaborate with and support team in developing website content.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in communications or related field. At least 5 years’ experience in online marketing and communications product/program management experience; professional journalistic writing experience for digital channels; experience managing content on a large website; experience with information architecture, content creation and content strategy. Knowledge of mental health topics. Experience with managing a website and its content, including posting, interactive maps, calendaring, data collection, and developing content. Experience developing communication plans and executing strategies to engage stakeholders. Proven experience in developing and implementing effective communication strategies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and strong editing abilities. Proficiency in content creation and editing for various platforms, including traditional and digital media. Ability to translate complex research and implementation findings into engaging content for a variety audiences. Values the contributions of others in a diverse work environment.

Communications Specialist – Digital Media Specialist
The purpose of the Communications Specialist – Digital Media Specialist is to conceptualize, design, and create engaging content for various digital platforms.
Responsibilities
- Develop and create graphics including flyers, brochures, posters, logos, videos, and photographic content for websites, social media channels, and newsletters.
- Create, shoot, edit and produce short videos with short timelines.
- Collaborate with the communications team to update and maintain website(s) with content.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive social media strategy.
- Participate in regular meetings with team, funders, and stakeholders to provide updates and present on communication products and results.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in digital design, graphic design, or a related field with at least 5 years experience in online marketing and communications, product/program management experience; professional journalistic writing experience for digital channels; experience managing content on a large website; experience with information architecture; and experience in content creation and content strategy. Proven experience in a professional digital design role. A portfolio of previous digital design work to showcase experience and creativity. Solid knowledge of design software programs, such Canvas and Adobe Creative Suite. Ability to clearly present design ideas and concepts for campaigns and projects. Strong video editing skills and knowledge of video production techniques. Excellent attention to detail. Must be willing to travel. Travel will be primarily in Texas with some possible travel to surrounding states. Values the contributions of others in a diverse work environment.

The purpose of these positions include producing and posting high-quality and engaging content across various platforms, including the Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health (TIEMH) website, individual project websites, blogs, social media channels, and digital newsletters.

- Create and support the creation of engaging and compelling content for websites, social media accounts, and newsletters.
- Manage website(s) including posting, updating content, updating maps, managing event calendars, and communicating with stakeholders who engage with the website.
- Work closely with the communications team to develop communication plans and implements strategies to reach target audience in collaboration with project team and funders.
- Use analytics to report on website outcomes and provide direction on improving visibility and reach.
- Participate in regular meetings with team, funders, and stakeholders to provide updates and present on communication products and results.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in communications or related field.
