“My goal is to create a system that promotes hope and community participation.”
– Deborah Cohen
When Dr. Cohen first began working in community mental health, she noticed a system that was not friendly to young people seeking services. This drove her commitment to transform community mental health and work to build a system that empowers real community integration. Dr. Cohen has worked and consulted in community mental health centers throughout Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky. Her research focuses primarily on transition age youth community mental health, integrated healthcare and health information technology. She is an evaluator on several system improvement efforts and she is actively involved in developing behavioral health information technology infrastructure on the local and national levels. She has ran in three half marathons and performed in operas and musicals. You may find her exploring various parks around Austin with her two sons Aleister and Leighton.
