Akram Al-Turk was, most recently, the Senior Director of Research and Public Policy at the Ending Community Homelessness Coalition (ECHO), the lead agency in the Austin/Travis County Homelessness Response System that coordinates community-wide strategies, research and evaluation, and funding to prevent and end homelessness. In this role, Akram led and coordinated ECHO’s research, program evaluation, communications, and public policy work.
He also worked as a Program Officer at the International Budget Partnership (in the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities) and as a researcher and Publications Manager at the Brookings Institution. He has a PhD in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master’s from the LBJ School at the University of Texas at Austin.
