Jillian Landers Biography


Jillian Landers, Ph.D., LMSW, is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Health Behavioral Research and Training (HBRT) Institute and the Mortiz Center for Societal Impact (MCSI) at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work. Dr. Landers received her bachelor’s in education from Texas A&M University in 2016 and her master’s in social work from Baylor University in 2018. She graduated with her Ph.D. in social work from Baylor in May 2023. Before coming to the University of Texas at Austin in fall 2024, Dr. Landers was a postdoctoral research fellow with Baylor University’s Interdisciplinary Multilevel Prevention and Clinical Translation Research Lab (IMPACT-Lab) in Houston, Texas. As a postdoctoral researcher at HBRT, Dr. Landers primarily works on CHOICES-TEEN, a behavioral health intervention study for girls in the juvenile justice system. This project is funded by an R01 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA), led by co-investigators Dr. Danielle Parrish and Dr. Kirk von Sternberg.

 

Dr. Landers is a postdoctoral research fellow at the MCSI and looks forward to furthering research collaboration to pursue community impact. She also teaches Foundations of Social Justice as an adjunct professor to master’s social work students. Dr. Landers research pursuits include behavioral health, substance use prevention, homelessness, simulation-based learning, and organizational support for social workers.
