On March 29, 2022, the Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences hosted Karl Deisseroth, winner of the 2021 Lasker Basic Medical Research Award for his revolutionary discovery of light-sensitive microbial proteins that can activate or silence individual brain cells. Deisseroth is a member of the National Academies of Engineering, Medicine, Inventors and Sciences.
Deisseroth’s recent book, “Projections: A Story of Human Emotions,” is a groundbreaking tour of the human mind that illuminates the biological nature of our inner worlds and emotions, through gripping, moving — and, at times, harrowing — clinical stories.
