Together with Prof. Dr. Juliana Felkner from the School of Architecture, we have received a Faculty Innovation Grant to develop an innovative teaching program in the undergraduate curriculum.
Our proposal consists of combining the undergraduate courses in building systems of both departments (CAEE and SOA) in a common project.
Title: Form and Energy: Bridging Engineering and Architectural Education through a collaborative project utilizing interactive architectural models, sensors, control systems and real-time data
Short Description: Buildings and building systems contribute to about one third of the anthropogenic global greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, designing and operating them efficiently is of utmost importance. Unfortunately, in practice, design and operation are typically separated across the disciplines of architecture and architectural engineering. The aim of this project is to bring students from both disciplines together at a very early stage to experience the advantages of design integration.
