Update (April, 2017): This internship is not available anymore.
IEL is looking for a motivated, hard-working UT engineering student (CE, ARE, ME, EE, CS) to assist our research in building energy optimization. The prospective student will work closely with the Energy Management and Optimization group on the UT campus, and analyze building operation data (HVAC, chilled water, steam, etc). From this, a procedure will be developed to optimize the building performance based on the monitored data. An initial proof-of-concept framework is available, and the goal of this project is to develop the necessary routines to quickly analyze building data and retrofit savings potentials.
The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of Matlab and HVAC systems. The project start is as soon as possible, but latest at the beginning of the Spring semester. For students with adequate qualifications, there exists a possibility for a paid internship.
