Brigadier General Matthew S. Cantore

Bio Picture

Brig. Gen. Matthew S. Cantore is the Deputy Commander, Space Training and Readiness Command, temporarily located at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.

Space Training and Readiness Command was established as a Field Command on August 21, 2021, and is responsible for preparing the USSF and more than 8,600 Guardians to prevail in competition and conflict through innovative education, training, doctrine, and test activities.


Brig. Gen. Cantore is a 1998 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy with a degree in space operations. He is a Master space operations officer and has commanded the 3rd Space Experimentation Squadron, 21st Operations Group, and Space Delta 2.

Brig. Gen. Cantore’s staff assignments include positions at The Joint Staff; 14th Air Force and Joint Force Component Command – Space; Headquarters U.S. Air Force; Headquarters Air Force Space Command; Headquarters Space Operations Command; and U.S. Space Command.

Prior to his current position, Brig. Gen. Cantore served as the Chief of Current Operations, at U.S. Space Command.
