Lieutenant Colonel Theresa A. Kopecky

Bio Picture

Lieutenant Colonel Theresa A. Kopecky is the United States Space Force Liaison Officer to Headquarters Sixteenth Air Force, and Director, Operating Location-Austin, Texas on behalf of Space Operations Command, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. In this capacity she is responsible for facilitating intelligence, cyber, and electronic warfare support to generate space combat forces forward to combatant commands. For this, she fosters innovation for the command through academia, joint service partnerships, program integration, and capability development for multi-layered effects — enabling the command’s ability to plan and execute effective and resilient space operations in support of the joint warfighter.

Lt Col Kopecky joined the Air Force in July of 2002 as an Intelligence Officer and was assigned to Air Forces Central at Shaw AFB, SC as a Targeteer and Deputy, Officer in Charge for Targeting Operations at the Combined Air Operations Center, Al Udeid Air Base. She served as Officer in Charge, Counterterrorism for the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe (NATO); Deputy Chief of Targets at 613 Air Operations Center, Hickam AFB; Detachment Commander for Defense Intelligence Agency in Kandahar, Afghanistan; Deputy, Weapons Effects Division for Defense Intelligence Agency, Bolling AFB; Chief of Targets for the Joint Intelligence Operations Center, Pacific Command, Pearl Harbor; and Chief of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Operations, Air Force Special Operations Command, Hurlburt Field. Lt Col Kopecky has deployed in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

Prior to assuming her current position, Lt Col Kopecky was the Deputy Chief, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Division for 25th Air Force, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. She led a global enterprise of Airmen and Guardians in the newly created Information Warfare Operations Center under 16th Air Force, Air Forces Cyber. 16th Air Force focuses on information warfare in the modern age at the integration of Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance; Cyber Warfare; Electromagnetic Warfare; Weather; Public Affairs; and Information Operations capabilities. 16th Air Force also serves as the Service Cryptologic Component responsible to the National Security Agency/Central Security Service and the Service Cyber Component to US Cyber Command.
