Academic Affairs

The Academic Affairs Committee (formerly known as the Professional Development Committee) works to aid the undergraduate body of CNS reach their goals for after their undergraduate years whether that be in industry, academia, medicine, etc. Through the organization of networking events and workshops, we hope to facilitate a smooth transition for CNS students toward their career aspirations. We also work directly with the CNS Career Services and Health Professions Offices to help shape outcomes for college-wide improvements in career exploration and professional development.

CNS Connections gives undergraduates the opportunity to network with various companies in the Austin area that specialize in the fields of biotechnology, science industry, nonprofit work etc. This is a great opportunity for students to interact with company representatives, make connections, and find relevant advice for pursuing their career goals.

NSC hosts internal alumni panels for its members and other internal events that help benefit the professional goals of its members. The Academic Affairs committee hosts Linkedin Workshops, provides individual professional advice to members and other opportunities to engage in networking and advancement.

The Academic Affairs committee makes an effort to provide resources to the greater CNS community and its members by conglomerating resources such as guides for first generation students, pre-medical students, pre-law students, video interviews with professors, and so much more.
