Legislative Idea Form
Legislation is the formal means by which NSC represents student opinion on the academic experience. It’s a tool that is used when working with administrators, and serves as evidence that an issue exists and students care about it. If you have an idea for a piece of legislation, reach out. You can either be a part of the writing process or just submit an idea for a change you would like to see on campus.
Please describe the issue in as much detail as possible! These ideas don’t need to be thorough at all, they can just be issues that you’ve seen! Types of Legislation
NSC Resolution
(NSCR)
- Address specific issue or show support specific to CNS
- Requires implementation
- Simple majority of active members to pass
NSC Bill
(NSCB)
- Amends NSC Constitution, Bylaws, or Election Code
- Immediate effect once passed
- 2⁄3 majority of active members to pass
Senate Resolution
(SR)
- Address specific issue or show support on a uwide scale
- Requires implementation
- Simple majority of councils to pass
Senate Bill
(SB)
- Amends Senate Constitution
- Immediate effect once passed
- 2⁄3 majority of councils to pass

Creation
- Write your Legislation
- Collect potential sponsors
Implementation
- Present at General Assembly
- Meet with stakeholders and implement your initiative
