UT Austin and the University of Texas System have joined the Texas Library Coalition for United Action (TLCUA). With the addition of UT System, there are now 41 institutions in Texas that are a part of this coalition. One of the goals of the coalition is to expand open access opportunities for the institutions’ authors. TLCUA is currently working to negotiate a new contract with Elsevier – collectively the institutions in the coalition spend $25 million per year on Elsevier’s Science Direct platform.
