UT Austin participates in several open access (OA) initiatives that aim to create a more equitable and sustainable scholarly communication ecosystem. Today we’d like to highlight four of our newer initiatives.
- Association of Computing Machinery (ACM): ACM publishes journals, conference proceedings, and magazines. UT Austin is participating in their program to transform their publishing to 100% open access. UT Austin corresponding authors can publish OA in an ACM journal for no additional fee.
- Elsevier: Elsevier publishes books and journals across the disciplines. UT has signed a deal with Elsevier that gives us reading access to Elsevier journals and provides UT corresponding authors with a discount on article processing charges (APCs) of 10-15% in eligible gold and hybrid titles, excluding Cell Press, The Lancet, and certain society titles.
- Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC): UT Austin has a Read and Publish deal with RSC that includes read access to RSC journals and allows UT Austin affiliated corresponding authors to publish open access in an RSC hybrid journal without paying an APC. UT Austin corresponding authors also receive a 15% discount on APCs for fully open access journals.
- Sage Publishing: UT has a contract with Sage that gives the UT community read access to Sage journals and all UT Austin corresponding authors can publish open access in over 1000 Sage journals without paying an APC.
