During Open Access Week we posted about our guiding principles for supporting open access (OA) initiatives. We recently reviewed our OA initiative support over the past 18 months and here are some numbers related to those activities.
- 51 – the total number of OA initiatives we support (this includes initiatives that support journals, OA books, open data, and infrastructure to support open publishing)
- 15 – the number of new OA initiatives we added during that time frame
- 32 initiatives support STEM fields, 33 initiatives support social science fields, and 28 initiatives support humanities & fine arts fields (many initiatives support more than one major subject area)
- over $600,000 – total article processing charges (APC) waived or reduced for UT authors
- 536 – total number of articles that were made open access through our OA initiative support
- 28,071 – number of digital object identifiers (DOIs) minted (mostly for items that were uploaded to Texas ScholarWorks)
- over 23,000 – number of new items added to Texas ScholarWorks
- 3,255 – number of new ORCIDs created for UT Austin authors
- over 280 – number of datasets published through Texas Data Repository
