One of the many ways UT Austin Libraries supports faculty in implementing OER into their coursework is through the Open Education Fellowship.
The Open Education Fellowship is a stipend-supported program, in which selected faculty either adopt or create OER to use in place of paid course materials. And the fellows don’t just use this OER–they fully flip their courses, rendering them cost-free for students (in terms of course materials)! Sometimes faculty choose to incorporate existing OER, and sometimes they create entirely new resources. Because these materials carry a Creative Commons license, they’re available world-wide.
Interested in what this work looks like? Here are two completed fellow projects:
- Business and Hispanic Life and Culture: A Spanish course for intermediate high speakers with materials to support gains in language learning and business world knowledge. Authored by fellows, Mina Ogando-Lavín and Dr. Joshua Frank
- Foundations of Psychological Data Science I: Coding course which lays the foundation for data science education targeting psychological and brain science students. Created by fellow, Dr. Franco Pestilli
UT Libraries is proud of the work our fellows are doing. Are you interested in learning more, or in applying for the fellowship yourself? Check out or Open Education Fellowship guide. And be sure to congratulate the members of our fellowship cohorts, listed below:
