UT Libraries is pleased to announce support for a new open access (OA) initiative, Peer Community In.
Peer Community In (PCI) is a scientist-led initiative to provide a reviewing and recommending service for pre-print articles; similar to the peer review process for journal articles. Those recommended pre-prints can then be submitted to the Peer Community Journal or a PCI friendly journal which will accept the recommended pre-print article with waived or expedited peer review.
How does it work?
- Submit your preprint to an existing preprint server (like bioRxiv or HAL) or an OA repository using an article template to ensure all required sections are included in your preprint.
- Choose a PCI community to submit your preprint for peer-review evaluation.
- If your article is recommended, you will receive a link you can use to cite the recommendation.
- After recommendation, you can submit to the Peer Community Journal or a PCI friendly journal.
- Since the article has already been reviewed, these journals will accept the article with waived or expedited peer review in order to speed up the publication process
- You can also choose to submit your article to a journal not affiliated with PCI. In those cases, your recommendation on PCI will continue to be citable.
There are currently 17 Peer Communities:
- PCI Evolutionary Biology
- PCI Ecology
- PCI Paleontology
- PCI Neuroscience
- PCI Zoology
- PCI Genomics
- PCI Math & Computational Biology
- PCI Animal Science
- PCI Forest & Wood Sciences
- PCI Archaeology
- PCI Network Science
- PCI Ecotoxicology Environmental Chemistry
- PCI Infections
- PCI Microbiology
- PCI Health & Movement Sciences
- PCI Registered Reports
- PCI Organization Studies
