Undergraduate Students 

Thank you for showing interest in our lab!  Working with us, you will gain a deeper appreciation for older adult development, learn about the research process, and build essential skills for your future career and/or graduate education.  We have limited space in the lab but welcome students who are interested in our research specifically. 

Research Assistant responsibilities may include: 

  • Attend weekly lab meetings every Friday at 11 am (required) 
  • Help with data collection and participant interviews 
  • Transcribe and code sound files 
  • Work with surveys and questionnaires 
  • Review and edit research papers 
  • Conduct literature reviews 
  • Analyze research questions and develop a poster presentation for The Technology & Science Undergraduate Research Forum  
  • Learn about the research process! 

HDFS Research Practicum (10 hours weekly): 

To receive credit for the Research Practicum, you must enroll in HDF 655R (one-semester commitment) or HDF 355R (two-semester commitment). For more information, visit the Practicum and Research Practicum websites.  

Volunteer (9 hours weekly): 

Volunteers will not receive class credit. For those interested in joining our team as a volunteer, please email Dr. Fingerman kfingerman@austin.utexas.edu and include your resume/c.v. as well.
