Zero Waste Events is a program of UT Resource Recovery and was created to help further UT Austin’s Zero Waste Goal as stated in the Sustainability Master Plan. We provide guidance on:
- Working with vendors and purchasing event materials
- Setting up waste disposal locations
- Structuring events to make the disposal process run smoothly for attendees
- Tracking the impact of the event
Led by undergraduates committed to a Zero Waste campus and green planet, this group support faculty and staff event coordinators during the planning process to reduce waste. Together, we can reduce a significant amount of avoidable waste at events.
The Campus Environmental Center’s Green Events team provides similar free event consultation and composting services for student organizations. Visit Green Events for more information.
