Kelly Minor, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Psychological Sciences at Winston-Salem State University. She completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin, jointly appointed to the Population Research Center and the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences. She has a B.A. in Psychology from Georgia State University and a Ph.D. in Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology from the Lynch School of Education at Boston College. Her research interests focus on positive youth development (PYD), academic achievement, and college access, especially among disadvantaged and underrepresented groups. Drawing on her background in psychology, Dr. Minor investigates the role that internal psychological assets (e.g., self-regulation, school engagement, expectations for success) and socioeconomic and racial/ethnic inequalities play in post-secondary preparedness and enrollment.
