Sharon Strover
TIPI Director and Philip G. Warner Regents Professor in Communication

 
Sharon Strover is the Philip G. Warner Regents Professor in Communication and Co-director of the Technology and Information Policy Institute. Her expertise lies in (1) social implications of new technologies with a specialization in policy; (2) digital adoption and policy responses to the digital divide; (3) the economic benefits of broadband, particularly in rural areas. She has worked with several international, national, and regional government agencies on telecommunications policy matters.
Tiancheng ‘Leo’ Cao
Ph.D. student


Tiancheng ‘Leo’ Cao is a doctoral student from the School of Journalism and Media and a graduate research assistant at the TIPI. With a background in art history and new media, his research interests lie in the intersection of museum studies and media studies, especially the impact of digital and information technology on the museum community. His current research focuses on digital cultural heritage and the digitization of museum collections, with particular attention paid to the role of private technology companies as well as cultural and information policies.
  
Maria Esteva
TACC Research Associate and Data Archivist


Maria Esteva is a Research Associate and Data Archivist at the Texas Advanced Computing Center. Her research focus is digital archives and digital preservation. At TACC, she works in the Visualization and Data Analysis group. Her role involves developing scientific data collections, implementing digital archiving and preservation strategies for scientific datasets, and the use of information visualization as a tool for archival processing.
Soyoung Park
Ph.D. student


Soyoung Park is a Ph.D. candidate in Media Studies at the Department of Radio-TV-Film, and a graduate researcher at the TIPI in the Moody College of Communications. Her research explores data, emerging technology, and digital and information literacy. Her current research focuses on data privacy, data ownership, and data literacy in the context of blockchain-powered social networks. At the TIPI, she is involved in projects that consider ethics and public policy related to new technology centered on open data, AI, and smart city technologies.
