To open the 2008 Flair Symposium, writers Amy Tan, Denis Johnson, Tim O’Brien, and Lee Blessing discuss their work and the future of reading with James Magnuson, director of the Michener Center for Writers. The panel discussion takes place Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Conference Center.
Topics to be addressed include the writers’ early encounters with reading, the transformation of reading in the age of the internet, and the rapidly changing publishing industry. This panel will be webcast live.
Seating is free, but limited. Paid registrants for the symposium will have reserved seating. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
The 2008 Flair Symposium, Creating a Usable Past: Writers, Archives, and Institutions, occurs Nov. 13-15. During the three-day event, writers, archivists, dealers, agents, and scholars will seek to better understand how we create, protect, provide access to, and interpret literary archives.
