Shared on behalf of the Directors of Amplify
Amplify is a crowd-sourced production created and performed by self-identifying women at UT about their experiences being a woman in the world today. The goal of Amplify is to showcase the experiences and legacies of women and non-binary individuals at UT, and applicants may submit any medium they feel best expresses their message. In the past, we have had poetry, film, and monologues, song, dance, and photography, but we are open to other mediums as well! Previous topics have included body image, mental health, LGBTQIA+ community, and race, but applicants are not restricted to these by any means! As these can be heavier topics, we offer options for applicants to submit their pieces anonymously, which will then be performed by another member of the UT community (if applicable).
Amplify will take place on Friday, April 2nd and Saturday, April 3rd, 2021. As of now, we plan on having performers execute their piece in person in a socially distanced manner, and have the audience tune in virtually. However, applicants do NOT need to be in Austin to perform – we will make arrangements, and do not want location to deter any interested applicants from applying!
