Virtual Informational Session, AFR 351: The Global City: Summer in NYC, January 28th from 12:00-1:00 pm
Dear UT Undergraduate Students,
The African and African Diaspora Studies Department is offering AFR 351: The Global City: Summer in NYC in summer 2022. The program will run from June 12 – July 9. During this course, students will learn about “the global city,” a term describing major urban centers that function as headquarters for international finance, manufacturing and migration. Students will take field trips to places like The Museum of the City of New York, African Burial Ground National Monument, the National Museum of Immigration (Ellis Island), and will visit neighborhoods like Harlem, El Barrio, Chinatown, and the Boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. Students will also have opportunities to meet with community-based organizations and attend a range of cultural events (music, film & theatre). An optional Independent Research course is also offered in conjunction with the class.
For more information about this exciting summer program, join our Virtual Zoom Information Session on January 28th from 12:00-1:00 pm. We look forward to seeing you.
