Who We Are
We’re Texas SOUnD (Society of Unconventional Drummers), a student organization at the University of Texas at Austin that explores alternative percussion and musical techniques. We play anything with percussive potential: paint buckets, paper cups, boomwhacker tubes, and more!
Mission: To spread our love for music to the UT and greater Austin community.
Vision: To show the world that music is everywhere and everyone is a musician.
What We Do
1. Performances
SOUND performs at UT and Austin-area events and frequently collaborates with other student organizations to share our love for music with the community. To request a performance at your event, please click here.
2. End of Semester Show
Our work every semester culminates in a stage production that is open to the public and showcases student-written music, unique instrumentation, and musical collaborations. This is an evening of music, percussion, and performance like you’ve never seen before.
3. Education and Outreach
We bring unique performances, presentations, and activities to elementary schools and retirement homes in Austin to show our community how music is everywhere—and that anyone can be a musician.
