The Society of Plan II Engineers, or SP2E, is a UT Austin student organizations for those majoring in both the Plan II Honors Program and an Engineering discipline. This combination provides us with unique interdisciplinary perspectives (and course schedules) that we work to understand and develop through discussions both internal and with alumni.
Many of our members hold a wide range of interests and talents, both technical and nontechnical. In SP2E, we strive to foster a sense of community and mentorship to help each other navigate the interactions between these two very different majors. We work toward this goal through various events, from registration planning and expo preparation to social hours and fireside chats. SP2E meetings generally consist of discussions regarding classes and careers or mentorship sessions with alumni and professors. Additionally, we host a formal dinner every semester with a distinguished guest. In the past we have hosted prestigious alumni such as Governor Ann Richards, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, former Austin Mayor Will Wynn, Mark Strama, Cristal Glangchai, Christopher Glazner, and Daniel Huff. At our firesides we have hosted Dr. Hans Mark, Professor Larry Speck and Dr. Michael Webber.
