Students
B.F.A. in Dance majors Ivana Castenada, Mackenzie Lawrence, Abigail Loper, Tori Loper and Claire Wood have recently been awarded Arnhold Fellowships to attend the Dance Education Laboratory Summer institute at the Harkness Dance Center in New York City July 2-26. They will be studying DEL Essentials, DEL Early Childhood Dance, Dance for Social Change and Laban Movement Analysis / Language of Dance ® Fundamentals for Dance Educators.
Samantha Gashette (M.F.A. in Design and Technology candidate) will be draper for Bright Star at Taproot Theatre in Seattle.
Michael Love (Ph.D. in Performance as Public Practice candidate), siri gurudev (Ph.D. in Performance as Public Practice), Al Monts (Ph.D. in Performance as Public Practice) and kt shorb (Ph.D. in Performance as Public Practice) will be presenting at the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) in Orlando.
Michael Love, Molly Roy (Ph.D. in Performance as Public Practice candidate) and Priya Raman (Ph.D. in Performance as Public Practice) will be presenting at the Dance Studies Association Conference in Chicago.
Molly Martinez-Collins (B.A. in Theatre and Dance student) is a member of the acting company at the 2019 Illinois Shakespeare Festival, appearing in Julius Caesar, As You Like It and Pride and Prejudice.
Jess O’Rear (Ph.D. in Performance as Public Practice candidate) will be co-directing the “Trans project,” a devised piece at the Groundfloor Theatre. siri gurudev is performing in the cast.
Faculty
Nanette Acosta (Assistant Professor of Practice and Costume Production Director, Design and Technology) will be the costume designer for Bright Star at Taproot Theatre in Seattle.
Quetta Carpenter (Assistant Professor of Practice, Acting) directs her own adaptation of Julius Caesar at the 2019 Illinois Shakespeare Festival.
Tina Curran will be teaching “Laban Movement Analysis / Language of Dance ® Fundamentals for Dance Educators” with Frederick Curry from Mason Grove School for the Arts, Rutgers University, as part of the Dance Education Laboratory Summer institute at the Harkness Dance Center in New York City. She will also be a guest teacher at the Luna Dance Summer Institute in Oakland, CA.
Katie Dawson (Assistant Professor, Drama and Theatre for Youth and Communities) leads a three-day Winter Workshop for the South Australian government for 60 educators in addition to supporting ongoing research projects in South Australia for three weeks.
Lucien Douglas (Associate Professor, Acting) will perform his one-person show A Shadow Among Strangers: Performing the Life and Works of Edgar Allan Poe in July for Michigan’s South Haven Theatre Series.
Kirk Lynn (Associate Professor, Playwriting and Directing) will perform his one-person show Cold Record for HarbourFest, Toronto.
KJ Sanchez (Associate Professor, Playwriting and Directing) writes and directs a workshop of her play (dis)placed at The Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis.
Roxanne Schroeder-Arce (Associate Professor, Drama and Theatre for Youth and Communities) will present at the American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE) in New York City and at ATHE.
