When Kemi, a 12-year-old first-generation Nigerian girl, moves from Washington, D.C. to Montgomery County, Maryland, her efforts to fit in at her new school are halted by her father’s taxicab and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Why present “Kimmy” as a touring theatre for young audiences production?
The Department of Theatre and Dance at UT Austin is very excited to make arts more accessible for people of all ages in Central Texas. With the challenges of COVID-19 we decided to produce a interactive radio play that could be experienced virtually if necessary. We will tour to eight schools in the month of November in order to share this play with as many young people as possible.
Are there any other ways to see and hear “Kimmy?”
Yes! We have public performances of “Kimmy” on December 3 and 4th, 2021 in the Brocket Theatre at UT Austin. Tickets start at $5.
