The Steve Hicks School (SHS) is getting a new home in May 2024.
After 30 years in its current building, SHS has grown significantly. With 10 research institutes and centers, as well as increasing numbers of faculty, staff, and students, SHS’s current facility no longer meets the School’s needs. With the opportunity to relocate, the School will be able to fulfill modern needs, including collaborative learning and meeting spaces, contemporary classrooms, and modern
community spaces.
In 2024, SHS will move to Walter Webb Hall (WWH), located on Guadalupe Street across from the Moody School of Communication. WWH was completely renovated in 2020 and is a state-of-the-art building that provides the School with numerous upgrades. These upgrades include modern offices, conferencing technology, world class IT infrastruc- ture, communal spaces, and direct views of the UT Tower — not to mention ample room for large faculty, staff, and student gatherings.
By 2030, SHS will move into its permanent home at 2110 Speedway, where the McCombs School of Business is currently. This location will allow SHS to bring all its faculty and staff into a single building and allow even greater opportunities for collaborative work and enhancing community life.
Ongoing communications about the move, including plans to commemorate our current building and its storied history, will follow in the months to com
