We had a great time at our 1/17 meeting yesterday! Here’s a quick recap of important announcements and information if you weren’t able to make it.
First, we got to hear from Ian about ‘The Hoccleve Archive,’ a project with Dr. Lang. This project utilizes microfilm scans and hopes to create a public, interactive website to teach people about a unique medieval figure. If you are interested in applying to the project, you can do so here.
Next, we got to work out what workshops we might have this semester. Ultimately, we decided on three: an introduction to R, an introduction to GIS methods in the DH, and using GitHub/GitHub pages to create a personal website.
Lastly, we did a “speed-projecting” game to help get our creativity going. We randomly matched digital methods to interesting humanities topics, demonstrating how most digital methods can be applied to most subjects.
In the way of announcements:
The Undergraduate Research Fellowship is accepting applications here until January 23, 2023. This is a good opportunity to get funding for your research. Please reach out if you would like help with the application.
Our next meeting is on 1/31. We hope to see you then!
