Ethics Live

A Speaker-Led Ethics Program for Licensed Professional Engineers

The Texas Society of Professional Engineers UT Austin Student Chapter is excited to announce our very first Ethics Live event. This event will provide licensed Professional Engineers with an engaging way to earn their required one-hour ethics credit while enjoying a complimentary meal and connecting with fellow professionals and future engineers. As our inaugural Ethics Live event, we are excited to foster meaningful discussion around ethical decision-making in engineering practice.

Guest Speaker

Brian Lafoy, P.E., ENV SP

Brian Lafoy, P.E., ENV SP, is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in structural engineering, transportation, and construction. He is a leader in structural rehabilitation and accelerated construction, and he holds U.S. patents in the field. As a Market Lead at Halff, he oversees major projects and drives strategic growth initiatives. He is a Fellow of the National Society of Professional Engineers and a past Texas Society of Professional Engineers President, with numerous industry awards recognizing his contributions. Brian will be giving a presentation on engineering disasters: what went wrong and how these could have been prevented.

The Texas Society of Professional Engineers UT Austin Student Chapter is a self-funded organization. Ticket purchases, partnerships, and donations directly support the execution of the Ethics Live event, with any remaining funds used to sponsor student attendance at the Texas Society of Professional Engineers Annual Conference this summer. Additional support will contribute to future chapter events and general meetings.
