The Johnson Center for Child Health & Development Internships
The Johnson Center for Child Health & Development is looking to hire interns in four positions. Interns will deliver a life skills and cooking program to the Austin homeless youth community. The program will emphasize basic cooking and food literacy, and include components of professionalism, food safety, budgeting and culinary job training. Students will cook a meal to be served to the community on Friday afternoons.
Available positions include:
- Nutrition Teacher
- Lead a class around cooking a meal for the homeless community with budget and nutrition in mind.
- Nutrition/teaching major preferred.
- Life Skills Teacher
- Lead life skills classes and prep students for food handlers license test.
- Media Manager
- Create and manage the marketing of meals to the homeless community as well as the location logistics.
- Parent Support Coordinator
- Learn how to run a nursery and provide child care for teens with infants during class time.

Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum Internship
- Report directly to Museum Coordinator; at times report to other UMLAUF staff
- Commit 10 hours per week, and adhere to a set schedule.
- Be responsible, punctual and comfortable working independently or collaboratively
- Be versed in discussing UMLAUF mission, Charles Umlauf’s art & life
- Serve as an advocate of the UMLAUF
- Keep current on exhibitions & activities at UMLAUF
- Possess strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Greet visitors and share information about the UMLAUF collection, current exhibitions and upcoming programming
- Lead tours of the collection and current exhibitions
- Perform general administrative duties
- Answer phones
- Use Mailchimp, excel, and computer database programs to update emails lists and visitor information.
- Assist with uploading new content to our website and social media sites.
- Assist with mailings, assemble packets, and other duties as assigned
About the museum:
The UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum exhibits the work of Charles Umlauf and other contemporary sculptors in a natural setting and provides educational experiences that encourage the understanding and appreciation of sculpture.
Term of internship: September- December 2016 – with potential for renewal and increased hours. Monthly stipend provided.
