We meet every Monday starting at 6pm at the Dobie food court. Make sure to join our community at the chess @ UT discord server and our Chess.com page, where we host arenas, play other schools, and give away premium memberships.
The Chess Club at UT Austin seeks to promote chess for both amateurs as well as competitive players. Below is a list of events the chess team actively participates in.
- Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship
- Collegiate Chess League
- Kasparov Chess Foundation University Cup
- Austin Chess Club Tournaments
- Austin Grandmaster Chess Academy
For players looking to learn more about the game or brush up on their skills, the chess club offers lessons and interactive commentary by strong players (experts and masters). For stronger players, it is a chance to train to represent UT Austin in the Pan-American Intercollegiate Championship, an annual tournament we regularly send team members to.
No membership fees or commitment are necessary. Check the schedule for any additional updates.
In addition to this page, our Instagram page, Facebook page, and Discord server will provide the latest information and updates.
