Introduction
The Design–Build–Vertical Flight (DBVF) competition is an annual international challenge hosted by the Vertical Flight Society. Student teams from around the world design, build, and fly small-scale vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft. The competition pushes the boundaries of creativity, technical skill, and teamwork while preparing the next generation of aerospace leaders.
Our Chapter’s Involvement
At UT Austin, our VFS student chapter has actively decided to participate in the 2025-26 DBVF competition, giving students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. Our team will work together on every aspect of the project—from aerodynamic design and rotorcraft analysis to manufacturing, testing, flight demonstration, and more!
