WeTeach_CS, Code.org CS Training for Counselors & Administrators
What can Counselors and Administrators do to increase student access to Computer Science classes and career pathways? Computer Science Training for Counselors & Administrators participants will learn about the national and local technology landscape, who is (and is not) involved in this fast-growing employment sector, and why diverse participation matters. This session will help school teams appreciate what computer science is, what new courses involve, and how these count toward graduation and fit with the larger school program.

This month’s meeting of CS4TX’s San Antonio chapter will include a visit from Congressman Will Hurd (TX 23), along with our own Carol Fletcher, Deputy Director of the Center for STEM Education, and Hal Speed, State Director of CS4TX. The focus of the meeting will be Building a K-12 Computer Science Learning Community in San Antonio.

It’s been a busy summer for our WeTeach_CS teachers. We started off with the 2017 WeTeach_CS Summit and Deep Dives, then sent our Certification Prep workshop team on a Tour of Texas. Helped teachers bring Math and CS together through Bootstrap, learn to print in 3D, and even attend APSI workshops, not to mention all the training our WeTeach_CS Collaboratives accomplished this summer.
