We know getting district approvals can take time, so we’ve extended the registration deadline for the WeTeach_CS CSP Mini-Conference to Monday, February 26th—just for you! Register today!
You don’t have to look very hard to learn how important AP CSP is when it comes to addressing the All in CSforAll, which is why we want to help our Texas AP Computer Science Principles teachers prepare their students for success, both in AP CSP and in their future education and careers. Student success is what the WeTeach_CS CSP Mini-Conference is all about!
Don’t miss out on this unique AP CSP workshop, which will provide teachers with knowledge they can immediately put to use in the classroom.
About the WeTeach_CS CSP Mini-Conference
We asked Texas AP CSP teachers what topics we should cover during this year’s CSP Mini-Conference and the response we received was clear. AP CSP teachers want information and resources they can apply in the classroom to help prepare their students to successfully take the AP CSP exam. So that’s what we’re doing! The 2018 WeTeach_CS CSP Mini-Conference, being held March 1-2, 2018 in Austin, TX, will focus on preparation for both the Performance Task and Multiple-Choice components of the AP CSP exam. The workshop presenters, Gina McCarley and Jill Westlund, will take participants through key aspects of the AP CSP exam using tips and examples from the 2017 exam. The workshop will also include practice exams, CSP curriculum fair, and information on block and text-based languages.
New to AP CSP?
While this workshop is aimed at current Texas AP Computer Science Principles teachers, we understand that CSP will be a new course in many districts for the 2018-19 school year and that there are teachers out there who are preparing to teach AP CSP for the first time this fall. So if you are a new AP CSP teacher and have some familiarity with CSP already, please email Amy Werst at amy.werst@utexas.edu before registering for the workshop.
About AP CSP
AP Computer Science Principles offers a multidisciplinary approach to teaching the underlying principles of computation. The course will introduce students to the creative aspects of programming, abstractions, algorithms, large data sets, the Internet, cybersecurity concerns, and computing impacts. AP Computer Science Principles also gives students the opportunity to use current technologies to create computational artifacts for both self-expression and problem solving. Together, these aspects of the course make up a rigorous and rich curriculum that aims to broaden participation in computer science. More information
