Registration for the first WeTeach_Java Face-2-Face Workshop will close on July 16, 2018. Don’t miss out—register today!
WeTeach_Java is a week-long intensive workshop designed to give new and experienced teachers the tools they need to teach Java in high school. Based on the WeTeach_CS for HS curriculum and aligned to the CS1 TEKS, WeTeach_Java is designed to help teachers take their students beyond the basics of block and scripting languages and into the world of limitless opportunities that working in an industry standard programming language allows. Starting with the basics and adding topics as they are mastered, this course will prepare students to move beyond their first-year experience towards goals such as the College Board AP CS A exam and their post-high school education plans.
The workshop will also include a special preview of the entire WeTeach_CS for HS curriculum. Attendees who complete the entire week will receive a discount code for your school to use on a one year license subscription to the WeTeach_CS for HS curriculum for your campus.

The WeTeach_CS for HS curriculum will guide new computer science teachers through the challenges of a first-year computer science course at the high school level. The course uses three programming platforms, Scratch, Jeroo, and Java, to progressively develop students through more challenging content. The curriculum provides more than enough lessons, labs, projects, and assessments (both formative and summative) for a typical school year of approximately 160 instructional days and includes extra materials to challenge accelerated students. Additionally, the teacher has access to videos, discussion boards, online professional support, and virtual office hours with the course developers to provide them with the tools they need to master the curriculum and content. WeTeach_CS for HS is a comprehensive curriculum designed to support new computer science teachers establishing an entire CS program within their school, starting at the ground level.
