Augmented Lagrangian Digital Image/Volume Correlation (ALDIC/ALDVC)
Intro: Digital Image Correlation (DIC) and Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) are the most popular optical experimental techniques to determine 2D, 3D, and 3D volumetric whole-field deformations. The basic idea of the DIC/DVC methods is to compare images of an object painted with a speckle pattern before and after deformation, and thereby compute displacements and strains by solving optimization problems. ALDIC is the state-of-the-art new hybrid DIC algorithm, which takes advantage of the superior computational speed of local DIC methods yet produces globally kinematically compatible displacement and strain fields; thus, enabling an accuracy previously only accessible by global methods but at a fraction of the computational cost.
