Coffee Talk – Dr. Ruben Parra Cardona, Deliana Garcia

Ruben and Del will share a researcher and social change perspectives helping us understand the challenging interaction of drug use and addiction in immigrant populations exposed to intense oppression and adversity.

Dr. Parra Cardona of the Steve Hicks School of Social Work has NIH funding researching evidence-based parenting interventions culturally adapted for Latino families with young children.  The session will explore ways to support Latino/a youth and families to enhance protective factors and reduce risk.

Deliana Garcia, MA is the Director of International Projects, Research, and Development for Migrant Clinicians Network.  Ms. Garcia has dedicated more than twenty-five years to the health and wellness needs of migrant and other underserved populations in the midst of their challenges, health issues, and stressors.
