Stephanie Duncan, LCSW, a native of Detroit received her undergraduate degree in Sociology/Psychology and a Post-Bachelor Certificate in Non-Profit Management at Wayne State University. Stephanie completed her Master’s in Social Work at Loyola University of Chicago with a focus in Health, Mental Health and received a scholarship from the John Hartford Foundation in Gerontology. While at Loyola, Stephanie was a Volunteer Research Fellow for the Center for Urban Research Learning and participated in surveying for the Project to End Homeless. After completing her Master’s in 2011, Stephanie was a Post-Graduate Social Work Fellow in the Cognitive Neurology Unit of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School. As a Fellow, Stephanie provided ongoing therapy and received didactic training with Harvard Medical School. Following the completion of the Fellowship, Stephanie worked with West Michigan Community Mental Health in Ludington, MI; however, she truly enjoyed her role as a baker in the small town. Stephanie created a small farm-to-table program teaching youth to bake with fresh produce they grew together at the community plot. Stephanie gained a breadth of experience in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department of the Detroit Medical Center as her most recent social work position. During this time, Stephanie also carried on her love for baking by participating in the “Pop Up” culture throughout Detroit and catered events at local venues. Although Stephanie truly enjoyed her experience in Detroit, she appreciates learning from travel and new challenges, which led her to Austin. Austin has not failed to provide challenges and wonderful experiences. Stephanie worked with the Seton Family Health System for 3 years as a Clinical Social Worker and for the past year has joined the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. She is thrilled with the lack of winter in Austin allowing her to spend time outdoors with her Boston Terrier, Penelope and son, Luke.
