Susan Stockton

My biggest role in this institute is as a long-term recovering addict who loves to inspire change and watch others as they stretch their wings and grow.  We’re all recovering from something.  There’s much to learn from each other.  Wellness and Prevention are my current focus.  Outside of the institute I am the head of the public relations program for one of The University of Texas at Austin’s largest research units.  I live my professional life at the intersection of two of my greatest passions- people and technology- in a national security focused research environment where each day is spent on the frontiers of science.  I also believe in the transformative power of education and am a 4.0 undergraduate student of psychology at St. Edward’s University. Musician, songwriter, poet, artist, mother, friend, and so much more, maybe the best way to describe me is life enthusiast. Addiction is incredibly painful. And it takes the best people. After being so close to death, there’s a tendency to love and live life in a way that leaves contrails. I look forward to working with you on this journey. To transforming, changing, and saving lives.
