Learn more about the Brumley Institute

How do I book office hours?
Choose the subject matter expert you’d like to meet with and click the button to their professional calendar. Book a date and time based on their indicated availability, and you’ll receive an email confirmation with details and a virtual meeting link (unless otherwise specified in-person meeting).
How is Brumley Institute for Graduate Entrepreneurship involved?
Our center’s mission is to create opportunities for those in the UT ecosystem who are interested in entrepreneurship and set them up for success. We’re partnering with professionals in our network to bring accessible 1:1 mentorship to our community in the form of “office hours” – without the intimidation. Though we’ve created the space for these connections, the responsibility and meeting expectations are entirely managed by the individual and their chosen expert.
Is this opportunity only for UT graduate students?
These office hour offerings were made with UT graduate student entrepreneurs in mind, however if you’re affiliated with UT or the Austin startup ecosystem and would find this opportunity useful, you’re welcome to make an office hour appointment as long as you follow our code of conduct.
What if the professional I want to meet with doesn’t have availability?
Each subject matter expert is generously volunteering their time based on the cadence that works for their individual schedules. However, they’ve committed to hold at least 4 office hours spread throughout the fall 2026 semester from August to December, so please look ahead at future months to see if there’s another open booking.
Can I bring my co-founder or team to the meeting?
Yes, feel free to invite other individuals relevant to the discussion you want to have. Please make the professional you’re meeting with aware of this.
What if they don’t show up to the meeting?
If you weren’t notified of any last-minute changes to your appointment time, then please contact brumleyinstitute@mccombs.utexas.edu so that we may step in to solve the issue and facilitate an alternative.

Our subject matter experts generously volunteer their time to support student entrepreneurs through these office hours. These opportunities are made possible through the strong relationships that we at the Brumley Institute have built with industry professionals who are excited to share their expertise with the next generation of founders.

If you schedule an appointment, please come prepared and ready to spark the conversation. We ask that you arrive on time and bring at least 1–2 questions or topics you’d like to discuss. Be respectful, professional, and considerate of the expert’s time and willingness to mentor. While these sessions are informal, they are also valuable opportunities to build connections, gain insight, and represent yourself—and the entrepreneurial community at UT—with professionalism.

Thank you for helping us maintain a positive experience for both our students and our volunteer mentors
