CM2 is hiring: UTC Postdoctoral Fellow

UTC CM2 Postdoctoral Fellow

The USDOT Tier-1 University Transportation Center “Cooperative Mobility for Competitive Megaregions (CM2)” invites applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship who aspire to become independent academic researchers in the areas of transportation planning and megaregion research. The fellow will primarily work with Dr. Ming Zhang, Director of the Cooperative Mobility for Competitive Megaregions (CM2). This is a full-time position and requires a full year commitment until September 30, 2023.

Specific Duties will Include:

  • Perform megaregion-related research in one or more of the following areas:  regional economic impacts of infrastructure investments; applications of system dynamics and network science tools to analyze rural and urban settlement systems in megaregions; agent-based modeling of megaregional urban expansion process and dynamics; multiscale, multi-dimensional spatial inequality in megaregions; megaregional passenger or freight mobility analysis integrating big data and conventional travel surveys.
  • Participate in CM2 sponsored research and educational events.
  • Disseminate research outputs in the venues of conference presentations, journal articles and/or book publications.

Required Experience and Skills: Ph.D. degree in urban and regional studies or a related field by the start of the fellowship, or within 3 years. Excellent database management skills including quantitative data analysis skills. Able to work independently and in teams. Excellent communication and writing skills. Highly motivated with a great work ethic. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Salary Range: $48,000 + depending on qualifications
